Your Light

As good friends of the band, we’ve wanted to work with Melbourne disco outfit Total Giovanni for a long time. They’re incredibly creative people and phenomenal performers, which really lends itself to collaborative filmmaking.

‘Your Light’ was the perfect track to see what we could make together. When you want to give band members starring roles in your film, it’s important that they feel comfortable with the concept and that it’s the best reflection of the band.

In this case, they’re a bunch of weirdos so it was perfect.

We took the concept of “light” and ran with it, eventually arriving at a religious spin. Then we worked closely with the producer and band to craft the idea. There were lots of meetings, a lengthy WhatsApp feed and countless photos and ideas being thrown around before we got to the finished product. But one thing we all knew was that Jules and Vachel’s dancing abilities were something else, so we had to have them in there somewhere.
