A POCKET OF INDIA

In March 2015, Julian jumped on a plane for India with his girlfriend, a backpack and a camera. As a filmmaker, it’s hard to switch off, and India makes it impossible to put down a camera. We’re always looking for opportunities to tell stories through travel and to show a candid approach to filmmaking by capturing life authentically.

A Pocket of India takes us across the north, from Kolkata to Rajasthan, and then down the west coast into Kerala, before finishing in the Andaman Islands. The film aims to reflect, in equal measure, the stunning geographical landscape of India and the people who live amongst it. India is such a beautiful place, but there is still so much inequality and hardship – we wanted to reflect this in both the visuals and the score and see if we could sneak people into Julian’s brain for a little bit.
